Hello everyone, I need information about my accordion.
It is a Marotta Concerto Mark I. 120 bass 4 switches, 11 switches on the piano side, 41 mother of pearl keys I believe is 3 registers(3 dots on the center switch).
The thing is I play keyboards and I played this accordion from time to time but I can't play the bass (left hand) and is really too heavy for me. I'd like to have a smaller one that I can play standing up and carry around.
Do anyone knows what is worth?
Thank you four your help.

By the way the accordion is beautiful and in perfect condition.

We always suggest posting a few pictures. That gives an idea of age and condition etc.

Hi Nicoya... Yep, we are softies here but we like a few pics in exchange for info... you have to put a little in.. :)

The Silvio Marotta firm in Italy produced accordions for 40+ years. They made robust accordions ranging from student to semi-pro models. They were exported here (US) with both the Marotta badge and some with badges of a dealer that wished to offer their own line of accordions. I've worked on some models in the past and found them all to have quality machine made reeds and very good fit and finish. Some Lo Duca accordions sold by the Milwaukee US distributor I've worked on have seemed to be identical (except for the grill and badge). As Ed says, Pic's would help.

Here are some pics.

Eh? Have a second guess at the dots, Stevie Wonder couldn't do worse.. :) This is a beauty; nice looking 4 voice instrument, from the pics looks little played . We don't see them in the UK (neither does Stevie in the US...) so I'll let Jim D do the fine detail, but this is nearer the upper end of Marotta's range, prob 1960s maybe a little earlier. One of these was eBayed fairly recently (although the pics are gone so hard to compare) and made $700, included an admission it had been in storage for 11 years.

Soulsaver, like you said It has been played very little and I got it from someone who had it storage. I really like it but again, I can't fully play everything and it is too heavy for me. I might keep it but Im not sure. I'd like to have a smaller loud one.

A nice clean 4 treble 5 bass voice machine made reed box imported for the American market. Marotta imported very few of these in solid black with hand made reeds but they are scarce as "Hen's Teeth". Looks like very low mileage and stored properly as the white has not yellowed. With that grill dent removed, reeds cleaned & tuned , backpad installed, good straps & clean case this one should have a retail price set at $1495.00 and in today's market I would not let it go for under $1250.00. Ed's got the date right at mid 60's. The prices I quote here are for a 19" keyboard and if the keyboard is 18", subtract $100.00 . {}

Thank you very very much Jim D. and Soulsaver for taking the time to look. It seems like a pretty good instrument to keep. I might take it to someone to clean and check although It is playing just fine and on tune as it is right now but I am a musician not an Accordion expert. Thanks again guys and if you know of any place near Greensboro NC let me now.
