I don’t know how many of you feel that Roland has given up on V-Accordions, but I just found out that Roland is in the process of redesigning one of the internal boards because the current ones have obsolete components. This is an indication that Roland’s support for V-Accordions will continue.

Good news!

That is indeed good news! Maybe even new models after so many years?
I wouldn’t go as far as saying that new models are in the works.

Let’s take it one step at a time. If Roland, or any other company for that matter, needs to have replacement boards and can’t make them because some of the components are no longer available, the company can either stop supporting the products that contain those boards or do what Roland has just done. Given the fact that V-Accordions never amounted to more than a small percentage of Roland’s sales, they could have easily walked away from supporting them at this point.

I’m just happy that Roland seems committed to continue supporting the V-Accordions that are already in the hands of players.

I totally agree! Within a day of receiving my 8x, it became apparent I had a dud battery. Once I got to the right contact and had registered an account with Roland, the response was first-rate and quick, I received my replacement battery with in week. No quibbles in the least!

I'm all for good news for any Roland V-accordion news!
What was your source of this info, Alan?

this is, of course, the same roland that abandoned their flagship FR7x within
10 years of it's introduction by running out of replacement screens, which
were obviously a factory defect since it has affected pretty much every unit
to some degree or other

i mean, they couldn't even bother to throw their weight around a bit to
force the screenmaker to wire up a drop in replacement, even though owners
would have gladly paid for them

this is of course the same roland who didn't even try to keep the battery in stock..
abandoning it as an available part for several years at one point until the FR8 came out

this is the same Roland who used the same basic core sound generation
module and chipset from the original 3 decades old Rodgers Organ project that
literally put evereyting Roland had to date in wavefpm tech ontoa sigle VLSIC
Chipset when roland bought them out, then used in literally EVERY SYNTH
and Atalier Organ and the FR series to date as a principle core element

so now you suggest something actually specific as an update of some kind
for a line of Digital accordions that have been on Life Support for some time
and this specifically to replace an internal board (which could be simply the
power supply board) oh yes, that reminds me, didn't Roland also abandon
completely replacement parts/boards for the FR7/7x pedalboard/power supply ?

well maybe it is the Amp board.. tech has been moving so quickly on these
little efficient essentially switching power supply design mini Amp circuits..

pardon me if i am rather sceptical that there is anything substantive
and to the benefit of current owners coming out of this back-door announcement

You forgot to mention Roland bk7m module. They stopped making the multi pedal foot switch ,essential when using module and their digital accordions
