I've always found Maj7 to be the most poignant of all chords, but beauty is in the ear of the beholder, and of course context is everything.Which brings us back to the original topic of the thread, which is CJS, and the currently ascendent Barry Harris school of thought (around which CJS is constructed) which says that the Maj7 is actually a pretty ugly, unstable chord, and that the maj6th is the real tonic. CJS is designed to allow easy maj and min 6th chords.
