when I press any of the buttons the right sound is made but the sound isn't quite as strong as some of my other accordions.

i'm gonna have a look at the valves and I know the gasket needs replacing any other tips?

There are many factors that influence the sound (and volume) but the most important ones are the reeds and the reed block. Longer and wider reeds will displace more air and thus produce more volume. A more bulky reed block also adds to the volume. (The insides of the reed block are called resonance chambers for a reason.) So if you have the right sound and consistent (but low) volume, it's just the nature of the beast.

Two examples to illustrate this: on my AKKO bayan the lowest 13 notes (E to E) are on a large reed block with large reeds. They are in LM register. The next two notes (F and F#) are each on the "next" reed blocks (but still LM) and these reed blocks are smaller and the reeds are too. The F and F# have a different sound compared to the E just below. (Higher notes are all LL so it's normal that they sound differently.) The other example is the Beltuna Prestige Paris IV. It has a large reed plate and reed block for the lowest octave. Higher notes are on smaller reed blocks and use individual reed plates. There is a clear difference when passing that lowest octave barrier going up. Again, the jump in size of reeds and reed blocks causes this change.
