Anybody know this dealer?

I can't speak for the dealer.
Payment: It is increasingly common in UK for businesses to require direct payment to their business account.
I believe this was a reaction to banks increasing (%) charges on Debit Cards which previously had been free - unlike Credit Cards.
The downside: open to scams and if you hit a wrong number the money may go elsewhere.

It may well be the case but I'll not be buying by this method - even if it is a legitimate business.
That and the fact that I can't seem to contact them despite numerous phone calls.
Thanks for the information though Dunlustin, much appreciated.

I've finally gotten through to the dealer and all appears well.

Their system is now accepting all cards and PayPal, as well as the bank transfers that appeared to be my only previous option.

Apparently they are the biggest accordion dealership in the UK with over 500 accordions on their premises alone (by appointment only), and not the 'fly by night' outfit I had imagined.

I am duly admonishing myself for being an untrusting soul, quick to see brigands and footpads in this perplexing digital age.

Has that info come from someone else? Because I’d be wary of trusting it from them themselves. I see they give a 01592 contact number, which is the Kirkcaldy area of Fife. I live not too far away in Dundee and haven’t heard of them.

Has anyone else on the forum bought from them? I’m not wanting to ring alarm bells, but their website is lacking reassuring detail.

I've seen this website before and noticed the ellegaard freebass a couple of years ago as it's identical to the one I bought at an auction, not quite sure where their price comes from for such an ancient instrument. Don't know anyone that has done business with them, probably worth a personal visit to find out more I'd suggest as the website is a little scant on detail....

No, the information came from themselves. The chap I talked to was called Colin.
Interesting that you live reasonably local and haven't heard of them.

Interesting that the UK contingent on here don't seen to know much about this business.

Perhaps contacting some of the local players and teachers might give some insight into their reputation.
It can be the case that a very good business operates on 'word-of-mouth' advertising with no need for commercial promotions.

I was hoping that such would be the case by highlighting the company on here.

Looking at the locations of people on this forum, there are not many that you would describe as 'local' to the business in question.
Calling on, emailing and or phoning local people might be more productive.
The first of which, of course, necessitates being in the locality ;)

Hi Longshore,

In May 2019 I was looking for a midi conversion for one of my HOHNER LUCIA button accordions to have a silent accordion for practice and I also contacted scotlandaccordions, but communication was soo slow and unconsistent, so I opted for another provider. Of course ymmv.

That's the thing Corinto; customer service is paramount, otherwise the customer shops elsewhere.

I've said before, but the Hohner Lucia CBA is a lovely travel box.

Re Scotland Accordions: A couple of years ago I was having problems with an Elkavox 83 which had been converted to battery power by a previous owner (not very well). I rang them up and explained that I would be in their area on holiday for a few days and they said bring it in and they would have a look at it. I dropped it into their premises (very interesting) they gave me a price for returning it to mains power and repairing it (subject to no unexpected problems being found) and two days later they contacted me to say it was ready for collection at the agreed price so I was able to bring it home with without having to entrust it to couriers. Very good service in my opinion.

That's good to hear, although I have now bought what I required elsewhere.

According to linked in it’s owned by a Colin Norton. The web site sure is vague though about who is running it. Stuff like that always makes me wary but I guess being a good accordion player (I assume he is) does not make one a good business man automatically.

I'm pretty certain he is genuine and the business is100% legitimate, but it doesn't seem to be easy to deal with him/them.
