And another "got my dream accordion"

Following the earlier post I would also like to say that after searching since Christmas I have finally got my dream accordion. It is a 96 bass Brandoni Super Musette 68 accordion with 11 treble registers and 7 bass registers. As a bonus it appears to be miked up although I haven't tested this yet. It is rather odd that the battery is external and is 3 X 1.5AA 1.5V batteries making 4.5V in total whereas the normal set up I have seen elsewher tends to be a 9V battery located inside an accordion.
I have sought advice through the forum on a number of issues during my search and am very grateful for all yout responses and I believe that this accordion is exactly what I wanted. Thanks to all. I will try and add a vimeo to demonstrate its tone which to my ear is great.

Hi Stephen,
Thanks for your good wishes. Just to confirm that I'm playing the accordion as an acoustic accordion, it just so happened to have a couple of mikes already fitted when I bought it. I have tried the mikes through my Panasonic amp and my wife says that the mikes do work, although as for myself when playing the accordion, it doesn't seem to be any louder!

Not a problem with the 4.5 volts. Most of the modern condenser kits installed for accordion pickups will work on from 4.5 to 10 volts. The advantage of a 9 volt battery power is that when the battery is down to 1/2 power the mic's still work. Now if your accordion output jack is wired to accept phantom power you can eliminate the battery and plug into a mixer or amp with phantom power.

Not only an excellent idea ! But if you have the newer amplification toys it also enables you to travel with less spaghetti (wires) and unneeded parts. :tup:
