Hello all,
anybody know of any acoustic music sessions or folk clubs currently running in Gibraltar. I fly out there a couple of times a year. The locals and expats I know think there was but the scene is now defunct. I've never seen any on previous visits, but I thought I'd ask anyway.

Hi Orma,

Sorry, I have done a quick search of the internet, but to no avail.

Perhaps you could email the Governor's Office in Gibraltar ---- it should be easy enough to find, and someone there may be better placed to advise you.

Good Luck,

Stephen Hawkins.

Further delving into the recesses of the internet, I have discovered that Acoustic evenings take place at the "Splendid Bar", 1, George's Lane, Gibraltar.

Some of these sessions have been recorded for posterity, and are available to view on YouTube.

I would still go the way of contacting the Governor's Office, as I'm sure that they will be able to furnish you with up to the minute information.

Cheers Nonny,

Stephen Hawkins.

I was aware of the open mike in "Splendid Bar" . Splendid in name only I'm afraid.
The more follky sessions seem thin on the ground in Gibraltar according to my contacts, one of whom works in government.
I may well drift over the border to La Linea for a bit more authentic music.
Thanks for your efforts though Stephen.

Orma,

No real effort involved; just a few basic enquiries.

I'm sorry that the "Splendid" bar does not live up to its billing ---- I thought I may have been on to something there.

Good Luck,

Stephen Hawkins.
