Accordion Officially Suppressed By Government Policy?

Ha! - remember 50% of people are more stoopid than the average man!
Hi Jav
Sadly, seeing IS believing........idiotic conspiracy theories abound and "powerful" people just get away with lying......
Hi Jav the "self" thinks the idiocy of the modern world will kill us all
But the reality is, as a species we dominate not only all other species but also our environment and in such a short time.

Almost 8 billion people ,so judging us as a species we are incredibly successful.
So all the pain, misery, suffering, oppression, wars, stupidity etc have merely been vehicles to the success of the species.

“the truth is, what works”
I really like the humans as “eggs” and the species “omelette” analogy

“The eggs don't realise that their suffering, oppression, and misery is totally irrelevant.
As they are merely an ingredient in the making of the omelette”:ROFLMAO:

And don't get me started on the overwhelming advantage that is “delayed gratification” ,and the inevitable deluded consequences, searching for deities or immortality.

“there is no such thing as a free lunch”;)

I've been experimenting with AI for a future album cover. It's good, I feel it's close now, and if I spend a few hours I can get something usable. Here's the sort of thing I've been generating. It usually seems to be fingers that AI struggles with...

Nice one Rosie! Yes, fingers, faces, accordion keys and buttons are tough but improving. What generator are you using? I use Dream which is really nice and free (so far) but would like a better version, and I am not adverse to paying for a really good system, as long as it has 5 cassotti, hand made reeds and is actually made in Italy.

Hi Tom I have a friend thats a DIT and he sent me this ,I'm not sure whether to be excited or terrified.

"seeing is believing" might be a thing of the past .

Wow, that’s amazing!!!!! Eventually I’ll get something like this and make an accordionist video. Would be nice to combine it with my playing so people don’t have to see my ugly mug. 🤣🤣

You’re right, Plinky, the world is f’ed up. Accordion playing, AI playing, etc. helps us get a break from the madness and concentrate our fleeting attention on beauty, integrity and passion. Just sayin’

I'm using Microsoft's "Bing Images", it's quite good. I'd be delighted if our forthcoming album sold 100 copies, so there's no way we could afford original art for the cover.

Ah, ok, thanks, I will check it out. Post it here, I’ll buy a copy!

Hi Tom I attended a wonderful Napoleonic battle reenactment and a chap was giving a talk about how important music was and how tunes can create a sense of national identity.

They used the timing for marches and the campfire tunes reminded the soldiers of home and what they were fighting for.

I took my son that was 10 at the time and some of the younger Drummer boys in the front line were 9 years old !

The most shocking bit was the noise and smoke and the Earth actually shook with the cannon fire.

I think this iconic moment from a movie would have been better with an accordion but somehow I can almost hear it:)

I can just see Weird Al come marching through the crowd! 🤪

Hi Tom perhaps with the cost of living crisis tomatoes were just too expensive;)just kidding.
It might be very different in the USA in the UK but I think the accordion is considered something of an old man's instrument, and has a slightly humorous connotation.
It might just be the UK but we have an awful lot of Banjo and accordion jokes
I'm mid 60s and I attended a folk group and I was easily the youngest there:)

How does it go: “I might be nearly 78, but I was young once!” 🧐 (serious face) I played a Baile 120 bass accordion for pretty much all of the 1970s, often with groups of young people, who obviously enjoyed the atmosphere around a sing-song around a camp fire. I even played at a jubilee party (1977) near Erith in Kent. Although some of the lyrics didn’t match the original scores, and that was part of the fun, I can honestly say that I don’t recall a single disparaging remark or joke and like everyone else present just enjoyed being part of the occasion.

Hi Roney I'm very surprised,so perhaps it's only amongst certain groups of musicians, but accordion and banjo jokes followed quite closely by drummers ,have been the butt of jokes for as long as I can remember.

Guitarists and pianists don't seem to invoke the same derision although bass players usually get the failed guitarist jibe:ROFLMAO:

I don't really think outliers, like genres or specific events can really be considered in the same way.
Let me say I do not subscribe to any form of instrument hierarchy.
I played a banjo uke as a sort of novelty break in the act and no one ever laughed and I was never insulted for playing it.

But as it was a change of style in a functions band it was probably viewed very differently.:)

Now I’m wondering whether we should sponsor a “hug a viola player” event. 😊

We had a band rehearsal yesterday and I had a go at creating a "what the rehearsal looked like" picture. No problem this time with fingers, but it is annoying and even a bit troubling that the default for "woman" is 20-years old, size 8 with model looks. But with a long query specifying age and weight I got a couple that are more like real life. Interesting keyboards, I shall save them for when someone asks about the apparent gaps between E/F and B/C on the piano keyboard!

Cool!!! Yes, age needs to be specified! I use like, “45 years old.” Also, for me including “smiling” helps too. Hard to get a good looking accordion for sure.

I suspect your avatar picture is the exception and you, quite rightly, consider your own accordion to be beautiful 😀

Hi Rodney,

Sorry to be confusing here. We were talking about generating a picture of a good looking accordion in AI, which I find difficult. My avatar is a “real” accordion and I do find many accordions beautiful. 🪗😊

No worries Tom, as you probably guessed I was trying to be humorous. On a much more serious note, thanks for the prompt to find an accordion emogee! 🪗 🎶
