Hi Stephen,

I seem to recall playing an Arietta like this one many moons ago, very well made and robust machine as I recall. There's an occasion down here, in which there must be almost 200 accordions of different makes and ages being played - it's a great chance to see how an accordion copes with being played almost continually for three days! <EMOJI seq="1f633">?</EMOJI> Did you have to do much work on her?

Hi Davey,

A great friend of mine is a professional musician and singer/songwriter. He plays a wide variety of instruments, including piano accordion. Jon has been invaluable in helping me to sort out the Arietta, though all that was required was a clean up.

It is hard to believe that this instrument has spent the last 29 years in an unheated garage. The hinges and fasteners on the case have rusted through, but no apparent damage has been done to the instrument. As you say, the Arietta is a well made and robust machine.

At over sixty years old, one could be forgiven for thinking that this old tub is past its best, but I believe that it still has plenty of life left in it. Anyway, I like old things, usually preferring them to modern things. Steam locomotives & old British Motorbikes are also a passion of mine.

Take good care, Davey.

Stephen.

The skill that you may not have needed before is photography.
... and modern cameras or even cell phones make that task easy. If one really wanted to become competent at that level, the only thing really needed to learn is how to resize a photo to forum-friendly sizes, and that is something that can be taught/learned in about 15 minutes maximum.

Heck I could create a video tutorial on how to resize photos in 2-3 different software programs within that period of time!

I think a video on how to supply good illumination to photograph 2-3 different complicated interior assemblies would be more useful in a way, but sure, it would be great to get people resizing their images before posting!

Lighting is a different animal. It's not that it is hard to light, it is the equipment. Not many people will want to invest in lighting so that they would get good photos, however that said, I am a pro photographer and have the equipment and in the past even gave seminars on lighting everything from a person to a group of people to small objects.

The basics are pretty "common sense", but if needed, sure, I can whip something up at a beginner level to get good results (we're talking at least $50 and up. I have thousands of dollars in lighting equipment available to me from mild to wild), if a few people chime in and tell me they would benefit from it, I'd happily make such a video and it could even be specifically slanted towards accordion photography for our group. :)
