It looks like the accordion is doing well here! (Sweden) . In the first 15 seconds, there's even a brief glimpse of a guy playing a finto piano accordion ?

Thanks for the link to this great video. It strikes a note for me as I have visited Sweden often and have two sons who live there.
The tune at the opening of the video is known to me as gärdebeläten . It has ‘crossed’ the North Sea and is known in the Scottish northern isles of Shetland and Orkney. If my memory is correct the tune may have been used in Shetland for a wedding march. ie. It was played to get the wedding party from the church to the hall where the festivities, feast and dance would continue.

If I remember rightly, there's even a brief glimpse of someone who has his bass strap encased in a cloth sleeve, such as I have had made up for my accordions in order to preview my forearm sticking to the bass strap In sweaty weather.

They might well have cornered the market,; most of the fiddles on Orkney look like they might be there. In normal times when people were still dancing I used the tune 'gardebelaten' in situations where a light polka/barn dance rhythm was required and it seemed to be accepted quite well.
Chrisrayner: Point taken. I'm not a great fan of large groups playing (I'll not include Andre Rieu). There's problems with getting a tight sound and there are recording challenges too. HOWEVER if its a choice between getting off one's posterior and going out to have session with friends OR sitting in the house watching TV then there's no choice for me.
