Hi, I've got a question about the 32 bass Worldmaster. I've already got a Weltmaster Achat 72, purchased second hand several years ago. I'm looking for something more portable to have a bit of fun with, and have seen a 32 bass Worldmaster for sale. Unfortunately the seller knows nothing about it. Could anyone tell me what notes/chords/range the basses are and whether the instrument has dual reeds, alternative voices or anything like that. I've googled but haven't been able to get a definiive answer.

Hi Claire and welcome!🙂
I'm responding only because no one else has, so far: not because I'm knowledgeable about the Weltmeister 32 bass accordion 🙂
If you care to search the web for "Weltmeister 32 bass accordion " you will see it comes in several iterations over a number of years: no couplers, three couplers, different badges, etc. which one are you looking at?🤔
Here's one that's been overhauled: probably the best kind!😄

Here's another example.
Although the demonstrator says 48 bases, I think you'll find it actually has only 32.
The accompanying notes answer many of your questions.🙂
Good luck with your search!

Hi Dingo, thanks for welcome and the link, that's great - I think it should give me all the info I need. The instrument I'm looking at was owned by the seller's father and she doesn't play or know anything about it. Looks in good condition and well cared for, and close enough to pick up so no risk of damage in transit. It's cheap and worth a punt I think.

Hi Claire,
Generally speaking, a 32 bass accordion has 8 root notes (Eb, Bb, F, C, G, D, A, E) and the major, minor and dominant seventh chords for each note. This is almost certainly the system on the instrument you're talking about. It's very unlikely to find any 32 bass accordions with bass couplers.
In terms of the treble, if there are no couplers visible, then it is most likely tuned MM with no way of changing the sound. If there are two or three couplers, it is probably also tuned MM, albeit with the option to change between MM and M settings. If there are five couplers (unusual, but not impossible) then it is most likely tuned LMM, with options for M, MM, LMM, LM, and L.
This is what I've gathered from my experience with accordions. They're mostly pretty standard, so this will probably apply to any Worldmaster, Galotta or any other accordions produced by the Weltmeister factory.

Thanks for the explanation, that covers all I need to know, I really appreciate your help. There are no visible couplers, which wouldn't be a problem to me. Now I've just got to decide whether to go ahead!

I know someone with an old East German 26/32, The instrument is perfectly adequate for most traditional music. It's loud enough to hold it's own in a band/session setting, although it needs to be worked quite hard.

I own a weltmeister 32 bass buttons and two trebble switch accordion. But it is rare to find. I dont even know if there is any on the market
