Hi Dingo,

Amazing what you can do with those. My late father taught me to play one (maybe showed me would be more accurate). He played his from right to left and I played mine the correct way, if there is such a thing. He would teach me tunes by calling out (in Scots dialect), Sook, sook, blaw, sook, blaw, sook. Sook being suck and blaw meaning blow. Some tunes I only knew by their Sook blaw combinations. Im still terrible at remembering the names of tunes.

Great clip, thanks.

John,
Check out the other two links! :)
( My posts tend to evolve " organically ") :P

I guess you just can't teach this stuff

Music is where you find it! :)

Thanks for responding! :)

Think I have a dozen or so of these lighter instruments, mostly orchestra tuning layout, a few tremolo or octave, lot of fun, these are my travel instruments.

Dingo,

Throw those accordions on the fire. These guys sure suck!

There are a load of guys about the same age in Italy who play armonica. Liscio without the squeeze.

They sometimes even pay lip service to the classics.

For an accordion player looking for something a lot lighter a melodica (for PA players) or accordina (for CBA players) requires a lot less practice as we're already familiar with the keyboard. We only still need to learn how to breathe.

John,
Thanks fo the very enjoyable  clips! :)
I notice these guys play their armonicas the same way as they play their organettos: single handed! :)

These armonicas sound very like organettos.

Heres an accordion/ armonica collaboration: :)

Paul,
Thanks for your insights! :)

Dingo,

Big hazard playing with a moustache like that, but he maybe uses a filter to keep the reeds clear!

Yes, no fancy blues stuff there, one hand for the instrument and one for the mike, and they do sound like organettos.

Dont know if theres just a tad of reverb and/or echo in the amplification, my ear isnt quite good enough.

I cant say Ive ever seen anybody under about 65 playing that style on YT, so enjoy it while you can.

John,
I didnt want to say it, but it did occur to me that big mo makes an excellent armonica duster ( no offence)!
I shouldnt tease, hes a most excellent player and I did appreciate it ! :)

I do hope all these guys are taking very good care of themselves in the present crisis. :-/

Meanwhile, in Sweden  :)

These guys are currently discussing switching to accordion, because they can't perform with face masks...
