Good morning everyone. I am new to this forum. I recently cleaned out my aunts home, which was formerly my grandfathers. In a closet was an accordian. Didnt have any memories of it, so didnt think much avout it, until I was going thru old pictures, and found some pictures of my father playing it when he was about 10 years old. That would put the accordians age in the 1940s or earlier. It is a Soprani Revenna, made in Italy. Have looked online for a similar one, but cant find any that look the same. Any help identifying, would be greatly appreciated. Also is it worth anything? Have enclosed pictures. It has lived in its case, in a bedroom closet, and hasnt been touched since probably 1960 at the latest. Have not tried to play it, or even expand the bellows. Thanks.

It was a decent student model accordion when built. It’s small, but it would be useful to a folk musician who travels or wants a particularly light accordion. Without looking inside, it’s impossible to tell what condition it is in, but it’s highly likely that it would need some work to get it reliably playable. The lack of any register switches other than a palm switch lessens its versatility (I’m guessing that it has musette permanently on, which is not good for classical, tango, or jazz). But for someone busking or playing Morris dance tunes it would be just about perfect. Old accordions are a bit of a glut on the market, but this is a convenient size. Don’t throw it away, but don’t expect to get more than a few hundred dollars for it.

Any help identifying, would be greatly appreciated.
Hi Vinnie, and welcome!🙂
Thanks for sharing your lovely vintage accordion with us: great pictures!
It appears to be a 34/48 piano accordion made by Paolo Soprani in the 1930s in the town of Ravenna in Italy for export to an anglosphere country, Canada, in this case: Vancouver Music Co being the retailer.🙂
It looks to be in very good external condition for age but may need some TLC to put it into good playing condition.
These vintage accordions sound great when in good playing order but, unless well maintained, time usually tends not treat them well (there's much inside like cardboard bellows, felt palette pads, steel reeds, leather valves, and wax that can deteriorate with age) and prices tend to suffer as a result.
As ColoRodney said, if playable, it could suit a busker, hobbyist or folk musician very well .🙂
Good luck with it!🙂
