Romanian street musicians in Munich

Came across these guys while searching for Paris Manouche music on You Tube.

Sounds like a gypsy version of a Romanian Hora tune.

His accordion has a great sound whatever make it may be, and the bass player really makes it all work. Quite incredible sound quality, although the people talking tends to spoil some of it.

There used to be a fantastic Hungarian band in Durham, England, and the accordionist sounded very like this one. They had a cimbalom player in their line up, and I could have listened to them all day.

Hi, that's also what I noticed: many Roma accordionists play pre-war Hohner Tango & Verdi, dry tuned with an almost cassotto sound. Really great sound and mostly in tune. They must have some magicians in Romania, who raise these instruments from the dead. Just wondering how they manage to play these narrow black keys....

Nice! I was recently in Munich and was uniformly impressed with the street musicians there.

One group played light classical music with flute, strings, and even a grand piano they somehow managed to wheel out onto the sidewalk!

I too am often in Munich and indeed see a high quality of street musicians. I believe that they are fully supported (even financially) by the city of Munich. You see what a bit of public support can do for street musicians? Pity this is not universal.
