Is anyone using Reason by Propellerhead for sounds? Please don't tell me I'm the only one. This means that I use a laptop to produce all of my midi sounds and do not use a stand alone module. Does anyone else just use a laptop for sounds? Not asking for help, just want to know if I'm the only accordion player doing this. Thanks.

I've used Reason in the past but never with accordion.
I see no reason why you can't use your laptop as sound source with such a powerful soft synth as long as it does not lag too much. In addition you can use the Reason rhythm creating possibilities I guess. Sounds like an interesting solution.

I can post a sample, but you'd be disappointed by the sounds. I only use one bass, one chord, and two treble (both organ) sounds. I'm not using the software because it has a huge library of sounds, I use it because of its programmability. I had a basic Limex midi system installed in my Beltuna Euro IV, but I didn't want any lights or buttons added on the grill of the accordion. I wanted it to still look like an acoustic instrument. I also didn't want to have to have a huge pedal board in front of me. Reason allows me to map the accordion keys to various functions. So I use the lowest keys (F through Bb) to do patch changes, volume changes, and change Leslie speed. That means I never 'play' those keys for their musical notes, I only press those keys when I need to change something. The software also allows me to move the range of the bass so that the bass octave can have different starting low notes, depending on the song and key I'm playing in. For example, I have five different bass patches that I use. Each one sounds the same, except that the lowest note differs. There's other things I do with this setup, but I'm using the Reason software for its functionality rather than its sounds.
