Can anyone please explain in easy language the function of Mute On & Off as seen in this instrument?

Is this a good accordion for the price? Thank you.

What it could be (but inspection is needed to tell) is that the "mute on and off" close and open a sordino (that makes the sound softer and more mellow). Some accordions have a mute switch that just closes all registers, but they don't need a "mute off" switch.

cheap 2 voice student accordions in the USA are still a dime a dozen...

Rivoli is a student level accordion, like Excelsiola like Titan

a seller who pretends on the parent companys fame is deceptive at best,
dishonest at worst

this is not a Sonola, it is a Rivoli, made by Sonola, which means almost nothing

Thank you Ventura, you say it as it is & appreciate that more than words can say..
It does seem that, as a novice, one can easily get ripped off.....
I did email the seller asking about the mute registers & he replied

the mute switches mellow and brighten the sound and can be used on all 3 registers.

As I said, that suggests a sordino.

Yes a student model Sonola badged Rivoli . A quality made box but with a US market value in the US in fine condition will
fetch $300.00 with a 17" keyboard & $350 to $400.00 with a 18" keyboard.
