This is my current favorite version of Libertango on the accordion: Libertango/Ivano Battiston

Ivano Battiston is playing a Zero Sette quint converter that sounds fantastic. Do you have a version you like?

(Edit: Adios Nonino -> Libertango; had Nonino in my head)

Pretty amazing. And he ended with bellows closed :D

Great! No fuss, just great music and intelligent performance from a real master.
What do you think about the Galliano version?

I find Gallianos version a bit artificial. The introduction (and the ending) seem grafted-on. Also, as the emperor said: too many notes.

I find Battistons more accordionistic; I really like the beginning with the slow bellows shake.

Funny that both of them are playing quint free bass accordions.

Of course chacun à son goût; de gustos y colores...; etc.

Absolutely stunning! Great ricochet control as well.
My favorite performance of Libertango is that by Romanko: <YOUTUBE id=Hm2kyY4s-OM url=></YOUTUBE>
with a very nice intro, and also great ricochet.

<SIZE size=125><FONT font=Garamond>I really like this version.
Although the accordion may be a quint converter, it sounds as though hes not using the converter. It sounds to me like the average Stradella system. The bass has eight rows (=160 bass) and he seems not to go near the top row. I would assume the top row is for major third above the fundamental bass notes, as in Magnantes 140 bass accordion, and the bottom row for augmented chords, as in Guido Deiros 140 bass accordion.

I am ever surprised when musicians attain such an incredibly high standard and then try to over-impress people with their virtuosity instead of concentrating on the music.

In the words from a movie I saw a long time ago say:

"The music's gotta breathe... gotta live..."

If all you are doing is zipping everywhich way so much that there is more embelleshment than music, what is happening to the true nature of the song? I believe that the song dies or gets lost in all the fluff. I used to do that as a kid and still do it a bit too much here and there as an adult, I try to live the adage that often, "less IS more". :)
