Hello everyone,

I was given this accordion by a friend. When I opened the case, I was surprised at how nice it was and wondered if it is valuable. I am having trouble finding any info on it. It was my friend's wife's dad's accordion. This seems too nice for me to play around on. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It's a prewar Gretsch La Tosca. Regarding its value, I suggest you check out some generic articles on prewar boxes like this, such as:

I have a fondness for these boxes. They're lightweight, and often have a powerful and (to me) nostalgic sound. The downsides include old pads, leathers, gaskets, and wax, causing things to generally go out of tune and become less responsive, and key travel that's a little more than what's now normal. Lining the keybed of these with felt is a good upgrade, for quieter operation and ease of playing.

Have fun with it!

Thank you for your help and the link. I will do more research to see what it is worth and if I should sell it to someone who would appreciate it more than this novice.
