Perhaps you could try playing The Mexican Hat Dance? That may really perk him up. My German Short-haired Pointer recognizes specific songs and sounds. He really likes the accordion and the saxophone and will "sing along" when he hears specific songs. But we won't get into my dog is better than your dog argument.
