Minuet & Trio from the Flute Quartet in A major, K. 298 by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.
This was originally written as a flute, violin, viola and cello. I tried to incorporate as much of the score as I could in order to preserve the intention of the composer.

Wonderful! How nice to see that a composition for a quartet can be played on a single accordion without feeling that we are missing out on something. We can only imagine what Mozart could have composed for the accordion had our instrumented existed in his time!

If only it had existed in his lifetime. BTW there is a line in the movie “Amadeus” where Salieri says, “like a rusty squeezebox”. Unfortunately, there were no “squeezeboxes” at that time.
Thank you so much @debra for your kind words.

...
Oh, I missed that line! I watched Amadeus (in a large movie theatre many decades ago) and had trouble staying awake during the way too long opera "fragments"...
I did participate in a Mozart musical two years ago where a number of funny anachronistic comments were inserted, some by the author and some added as improvisation by actors. There was also one musical anachronism: when Leopold Mozart died during that musical the funeral march by Chopin was played. I didn't hear any comment from anyone in the audience about this musical anachronism...

I found another accordion related faux pas in “The Godfather”. We can discuss that another time.

Some of these anachronistic "faux pas" are deliberate and some happen by mistake. The woman who put together the Mozart musical I performed in collected works by Mozart to complement the original modern music used in this musical (called "rock opera") so she came up with the melody of the "funeral march" thinking it was by Mozart. She told me she couldn't find this piece in any of Mozart's work... so I told her it was Chopin's funeral march and she then decided to keep it in the musical. So it was kind of an accidental mistake that then became a deliberate mistake...
You could say that playing anything by Mozart on the accordion is an anachronism but I like it too much to not do it. After all, there is soooo much more wonderful music that predates the accordion it would be a shame to restrict ourselves to just original music written for our instrument.

Fully agree Paul.
Just remember all the Bach pieces - I know you arranged quite a few of them so nice.

Please tell!!!!! 😊
I’m not 100% sure, but the wedding scene in The Godfather was set in 1945, but it has Angelo DiPippo playing an Excelsior accordion that was manufactured no earlier than the 50’s.

Wow, thanks Zevy, that took a sharp eye!

Yes! I wondered that myself for years but wasn’t exactly sure on the dates. I haven’t watched it in a while so maybe now I need to again. Cool piece of information Zevy. Thank you.

I guess we can’t blame the producers for lack of accuracy when it comes to the specific instruments. I bet the rest of the band has some inaccuracies as well.
