Has anyone had a RASL procedure on their hand? They put a screw through the scaphoid and lunate bones to treat a torn scaphoid lunate ligament. Can you play the accordion after this?
Thank you.

Elizabeth,
Has anyone said you can't play the accordion after this?🤫
People with the most debilitating problems have been known to manage the most amazing things (for example, Beethoven was deaf.) A one armed accordionist (war injury) learned to play using his left hand, with his accordion held upside down.
Don't let the label stand in your way: just do as much as you can manage every day, and don't think about it : a half a loaf is still better than no bread at all.
My father in law gave up music and photography because of involuntary hand tremour.
I now also have developed involuntary hand tremour. I may not be playing to an audience, but I'm still playing and taking photographs!😄
Relax and do as much as you can!🙂👍

Thank you, Dingo40.
They (the surgeon) has said that i would lose some mobility and that i would have to “make adjustments” to my playing. So i was just wondering if there was somebody here who has actually gone through this!

I'm sure you can play the accordion after surgery (provided that you could play before the surgery as well). But as they are going to immobilize something certain motion will be restricted. My wife has had a few "mishaps" with dislocated fingers and a torn ligament over the years and it has certainly reduced the virtuosity she had, but she still plays quite well, provided there are no ultra-fast runs.
