Yes I am back with another silly question. I have been trying to figure out Larenti accordions, but there does not seem to be that much information about them out there. Is there anyone out there who can fill me in on these?

Hi,

Doesn't seem to have been made for the Italian domestic or European market, although I have seen the brand name before.

For some reason a lot of Italian made instruments were re-badged for export to the US and other countries, and this one will probably be one of those.

Various accordion dealers on your side seem to have pretended that they had their "own" brand, and commissioned Italian makers to supply them.

In Scotland the late Jimmy Clinkscale did precisely that, and there are still various accordions of various makes doing the rounds in the UK with his surname emblazoned on the front.

Somebody on the forum will definitely be able to assist you I'm sure.

Am I right suggesting (by the switches) it is LMH configuration, 3 reeds in 3 different ranges without usual tremolo sound?

I posted another picture. Looks like it has pickups?

Slightly confusing the way they move the dots on the horizontal plane on the switch.. but Id say yep LMH.

To make sure it is worth either have a look inside, or try to really pick up sound from these pickups.

Looking inside will also provide more info on how well or poorly the pickups are placed etc...

By the way, are these two knobs on the grille the controls for pickups?

And have you seen this new topic on IORIO accordion? For me it looks somewhat resembling this one...

The accordion in your pic' is an Italian product at the time made by The late Italian firm Gabbanelli (1926-1966) not to be confused with the current US Gabbanelli Firm. these models can also be found with the names Noble,Reno and Larenti depending on the dealers that sold them. These accordions were imported at the time to compete with similar brands by Excelsior, Titano, and Sano to name a few. Although a well made accordion they were never marketed successfully. and the brand name Larenti disappeared in the late 60's only to re-emerge today on Chinese imports.
