Going back to the glory days of European music some time in the 16th century -- from Tielman Susatos book of dances that was a red hot hit of the time (or Tilman, Tylman, whatever.) La Mourisque, La Morisque - spelling was kind of casual back in the day.

I might have posted this in the British music category, as Im learning it [edit: was learning it, its currently off the agenda] for a Northwest Morris performance coming up where Im filling in on accordion. Im pretty sure I know a Morris player or two who would set this tune to 3 major chords, but I love the old Renaissance stuff to death and have been working on chords that bring some of that flavor to it. Heres what I have at the moment (sorry, transposed to G as is our custom.)

<ATTACHMENT filename=lamorisque.jpg index=0>

If you follow this link, the tune will start playing (immediately, so ... be forewarned): http://www.musicalion.com/en/scores/sheet-music/1152/tylman-susato/3093/la-mourisque[/url]

Would be interested to hear other ideas.

I'm no musician but your L-hand seems to follow the first 8 bars of the original?
- except the harmony of some 4th beats is anticipated onto the 3rd beat - is this intentional?
Have you considered playing just the bass notes suggested in the two bass clef harmonies?
Possibly just play the first bass note staccato in bars 1 5 and 7? You could change to the other bass line 2nd time thro'.
If, like me, your bass clef isn't the speediest you could write out the notes?

? In American English usage, the accordion counts as an instrument, and if you can play one, youd be a musician here.

Yes.

No, cant say I have. The arrangement that comes down to us is great for sackbut ensemble, etc., 4 equal voices. My goal is to bring the tune to accordion, inasmuch as its represented by the upper part (and maybe others - theres an ornamental figure that sticks out in another line), eventually to be played for Morris performance, where I expect to hammer away with the left hand in completely stereotypic squeezebox fashion.

Sorry, I think I misunderstood, not thinking that
" I love the old Renaissance stuff to death " = " I expect to hammer away with the left hand in completely stereotypic squeezebox fashion"

Yes.
