Due to various health issues which includes Sciatica I have not played my accordion since january .Either sitting down or standing up..
I had the chance yesterday to purchase an Accordion stand .. my midi acoustic accordion fits it fine , But it feels so strange .
I think it will take some getting used too....I will only set it up and play it at home as I think my gigging days are over
So if any one has any tips/advice it would be most appreciated

Well, I ‘m sorry to hear about your health Giovanni but am glad you found something that gets you playing again. Only tip I have is to tip it back towards you so it’s kind of leaning on your chest. It will give it more of a natural feel. Easier if sitting down. Good luck!!!!

being behind a stationary accordion does feel funny..
i tried a Honervox on a stand once at MusicMarkt Pfieffer
in Mannheim and it was weird, but it works..

maybe you can try one of those powered chairs to sit in
that you can angle your position ? my recliner can do that
(power up instead of back) from seated to almost standing

thats a weird feeling too, i think it was intended to help
people stand up from being seated, but the motor can stop
anywhere in between..

i use this feature when i vacuum under the chair !

Tried one too, for me at the time, it felt easier to control standing up than sitting because I was able to swivel and shift body around enough to make pulling the bellows a little easier. The stand I was using was a bit flimsy so it was smart to wear the straps along with the stand.

Sitting down, you are liable to pinch the nerves that cause sciatic pain, hence the standing, but if it does not, then enjoy playing sitting down. Now, like everything else, it *is* going to take practice and time and getting used to, its not going to be as easy as you perhaps thought at first.
