How do you fix keys like this?

Hi Jason, remove the grill above the keybaord. You will see thick "wires" going from te end of the keys bent up to the felt covered stops over each reed hole. See if bending the wire so the felt is closer to the hole keeps the key from going up so far after it is played. That's a typical fix I've used, your accordion may be set different though. On a non cassotto accordion I charge $25 to level the PA keyboard and on a Cassotto (tone chamber) PA I will charge $50 because of double pads. Read the directions on the accordion revival web and give it a try. JIM D.
 
How does it get into that state in the first place?
 
From what I have seen, usually by catching the underside of the keys on the edge of the case when putting the accordion in the case.
If the previous owner would put it into the case keyboard first, this can be avoided.
