I just ordered the Roland Go Mixer Pro. Found this app for recording multiple shoots...an interesting $8.00 investment...keep you posted on result and reviews...

The main point when making recordings with a phone (any phone) is to turn off AGC (automatic gain control) and to then adjust the recording volume so the recording is loud enough, without clipping.
What makes an app like the Roland one really interesting is the ability to connect different phone cameras to record shots from multiple angles (which are automatically synchronized). I rarely make videos and they are totally uninteresting to see, but the most important lesson I learned while trying is that it is a lot more work to record a presentable video than just a presentable audio recording!

The GoPro 7 Black has a line in setting. Where I can plug in direct a mixer, keyboard or accordion. audio always comes out perfect...but with the FR4x or acoustic accordion, I think you can get a warmer sound by recording with a quality mic.

Totally true!
To make an MP3 file is 15-30 minutes of editing and to output, but that same process to create a video can be a ton more work, especially if you use higher end cameras that put out huge files and start using more advanced editing techniques.

My last project was about 5 minutes long but gave me 2 video files of 149gb and 4 audio files of 300mb. Creating proxies, editing, color correction, green screening, creative editing, outputting and uploading is an EASY 10-20 hour time investment. I have 21 fully documented steps to creating each of my videos... a little different from the 3 steps to creating MP3's.

That said, I find the video creation process so much more satisfying! :)
