i have an 80 bass, are they any good?

this one is, probably.

looks clean

this is a 3 reed treble 4 reed bass from around the 1970's

hard to say without measurements, but likely to be a 3/4 size

these are lightweight and easy to squeeze, with a good tone and plenty of power

Yeah, for us accordion nerds, this is a beautiful classic Scandalli accordion. Whether it’s good depends on the shape it’s in. Not a particularly valuable accordion, but good, yeah.

Just put a sign "I want one more accordion" on the door of your room and point to it whenever she asks.

Yeah. I was visiting a pal in Glasgow the other week. Not the worst area, but a little bit dodgy.
Stupidly enough, I've left my accordion in the back of the unlocked car for 5 minutes.
Needless to say, when I came back, the car door was wide open and there were two extra accordions chucked on the back seat.

At least that's how I've explained the latest addition to my wife...

Good thing you didn't leave your wide in the back of the car. They might have swapped her with an accordion player.

Be careful! Around here it’s zucchini.

Are you sure this is an 80 bass accordion? It has a 41 note keyboard, which is normally found on 120 bass accordions.
If you look very carefully, the photograph shows all the buttons. Clearly 120 buttons. Also it appears to be a 4-reed in MMMH tuning according to the couplers. Sound samples might help determining the veracity of those symbols.

i never saw this style, or any other modern series Scandalli,
with more or less shifts than correct for the reedsets..

This picture is not of mine, it is a picture for illistration purposes, mine is definately a 80 bass of the same model. I have been playing accordians for 60 years, many different makes and models, but this is my first scandalli I have owned, I have severall Hohners and wanted an Italian sound.

I own about a dozen 80 bass units - tis my absolute preference. If there were as many older 80 bass units laying around as there are old 120 bass units I think there would be a lot more accordion enthusiasts out there.

Having said that - what is actually going on with those register switches in the 120 bass photo...I can only make out one dot and three dots, as well as an upper thingy. A couple registers appear blank.

Questionable thread as the answers are unclear...
