Ace, sounds like it is then! I'm very surprised if the guy in the shop didn't mention it?!?

So am I !! The first time I pressed that option I freaked out because I thought I'd broken it.

Now of course you need to find out "which" freebass system it is....I did not realise that there were different ones until I checked out my Roly today.....you know I am NOT going to call it that .....my Roland....it has about 5 different systems.....altho' now I take a less annoyed look at my manual they seem to make sense......xcept Northern Europe which is weirder than me.....I also like the Finnish system no mucking about there either...... :D

Blimey, I dont look forward to that task... I wonder if some expert googling might be easier than figuring it out myself!

Edit: An expired Gumtree ad has the Hohner Polyphonic 400 listed with a freebass converter, C-system. Its a start. Will check tomorrow!

I dont think it is too daunting.....try wikipedia for freebass charts ....

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Free-bass_system

Try the nyice pyple at Berminghum Accordieons as well....they mayght know....

My ear still hurts so I have not been able to try my machines freebass mode/s , but it looks fun 8-)

perhaps one way is to sit with an electronic tuner and start at the top ,with a blank button layout and write in what the tuner says ...until it starts to repeat...it seems to work like the right side of a button box, but again you need to know what griff or whatever....luck !

Thats where Id start. Not that I know anything about it, but my vague impression is that its somewhat common. Looking for a little irony there, inasmuch as for a few days there may have been some thought to getting into that system ... and now, unwittingly, you may have anyway, albeit on the left rather than right.

How lucky to have got Freebass by accident!
No need to rush but great to know it's there.
From my all of 6 mths freebass experience, it is almost certainly a mirror image of the C-system R-hand.
I think it is much easier if it is over 4 rows but even with 3 I am finding it a lot of fun.
I think it is usually called a minor third layout because that is the "gap" between each button as you go along the rows
