Is this accordion to have one or two back straps? I have one that only looks like it has one back strap and a second might not hook up or work. Any pics of the set up? Are these straps available? Thanks for the help Ron

and this is two... [/quote]

Thanks still trying to confirm. Ron

Looking at the fixing in the ebay one, I'd say it was one. Is total originality important?

No! I just want to know which it was when new. Thanks Ron

So far I've asked this question to (1) museum owner (1) 1950's to date US Hohner dealer and from my past experience with these small 8 bass models that have come in for repair, they were all when new, came with a single shoulder strap.

YOU DA MAN! Thats what I was thinking. They are small and similar to the 1 strap Melodeon OF THE 1930s. I think Ill see how well it works with one and two straps. Two straps to hold a 2.5 pound instrument is a bit much. Thanks Ron

They weigh next to nothing indeed, but the bellows go both ways! Melodeonists generally have their thumb on the edge of the keyboard but unless you'd going to play a Mignon like that, or always play sitting down, I think two straps are needed. I've tried my 12 bass Mignon both ways, and use two.

I do see what you mean. I guess 2 was the upgrade back than. Thanks very much for the input. Ron

Prompted by this discussion, Ive been playing my Mignon. Its a (very small) heap of fun! Definitely seems to work best when played good and loud.
Melodeon in PA format! I can see why Stephen is on his quest for a very small CBA.
Something Mignon sized in Castagnari Lilly melodeon quality would be rather nice!

For the music I play Id like to change my 12 basses to C, G, D, A majors, E thirdless and B minor. The sharp edges of the white keys also need rounding.
When I get round to it..... :D

I just got mine. Can you suggest music that can be done with 4 chords for me? Thanks very much Ron

Hi Ron
I'd guess your chords are F C G and D. That gives you "three chord trick" in the keys of C and G, so you're using F C & G for music in C and C G & D for tunes in G. There are thousands and thousands of tunes that can be harmonised with just three chords. There's loads of "three chord" stuff on many websites aimed at guitar, which could work fine.

What type of thing do you like?

I like all stuff. I just need a bunch to see how the MIGNON does. I guess camping stuff also. Thanks Ron

Have purchased one with original double and original single straps. The singles are leather with leather bellow straps and the doubles appear to be a plastic with plastic bellow straps. Ron
