Hi, I'm Matt Butcher, from Smethwick, West Midlands, UK. Great effort on setting up the forum, loads of good stuff to talk about and share. I play chromatic button accordion and also organetto, after a fashion. Musically, I like most things. What I like most about forums is sharing the music - recordings, ideas, links, tips, stories... Good to meet you all.

Hi Matt I'm from the W. Mids - lived for a while in Smerrick, too. Rummaged for a bargain in Cape Hill market.. Played Chess for Bearwood while there.

Hi Ed - interesting that you lived in this neck of the woods, many people pass through Smethwick, I ended up staying... the biggest forms of traditional dance music round here are bhangra and dancehall, which as far as I'm concerned is great... Reggae is for me what soul is for you, I guess, and I'm still not sure how I got from there to accordions. A few years back I played bass accordion in an accordion band and we used to play one Jamaican dancehall tune and a dancehall version of a Swedish polka. We were playing in a park somewhere (Woodgate, South Birmingham I think) and some passers by started bogling to our music. Happy days.

Now I'm intrigued.
Reggae on the accordion. I've got to try it. I think it might work.
