Greetings all! I am reaching out to the Experts for some information on this accordion my father-in-law recently picked: http://www.bednarcik.com/Accordian/Index.html

What I know about it is its a Scandalli Accordion (Piano Accordion?). It has 41 Keys, 120 bass buttons, and has the 396/161 MADE IN ITALY on the back. Ive looked up in the internet all I could find and I see there are several, maybe hundreds of Scandalli Accordions that all look sorta similar, but with a few differences.

Example: Heres one that almost loks the same: http://www.bednarcik.com/Accordian/Index.html .

The thing I like about this link: http://www.accordionconnection.com/InstrumentDetail.asp?MakeModel=Scandalli&SerialNumber=L26461 is the amount of info listed

Category: Piano Accordion
Type: 120 Bass
Make/Model: Scandalli
Serial Number: L26461
Description: 41/120-2/4-2/1
Reed setup: LM
Reed type: Standard
Chamber: NO
Tuning: A441 Dry
KB Length: 16#
MIC System: NO
MIDI: NO
Color/finish: White/Red
Weight: 16 lbs
Guarantee: 90 Days
New/used: USED
Price: $895.00

Can anyone fill me in on the one that I have? Is it different in anyway? (I do not see ANY Serial Number on this one we have).

Would anyne also know an approx value? The other one I posted above is listed for $895.00. Is that a fair/accurate amount? Is the other one pictured better or more rare than the model I have?

The accordion looks to be in MINT condition; I do t see any flaws. The case has a few dings on the outside (Looks to be the original case and original straps), and the inner part of the case is immaculate!

Sorry for all the questions, but if anyone has any information on this I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks in advance!

Hi & welcome.

These aren't rare, crop up regularly on ebay, gumtree etc.

Yours is similar to the example, but a better model (although not necessarily in better condition) from around 1950/early60s. Your treble reed sets appear to be 3, Low Middle High (LMH) shown in the couplers/registers/switches vs their 2 reed LM.

396/161 is the serial number - Scandalli have no record of serials from that time.

Your equivalent Description is : 41/120-3/4-5/2 (assuming it also has 4 reeds on the bass side).

The dealers price is with warranty and his claims should be expected to be true, or you can prob return the instrument. Mint condition in your case means not a lot, as the value depends more on the internal condition - tuning, bellows, reed & valves, storeage history etc. Check ebay for values achieved for similar looking models. My guess? c.UKĀ£350 if in serviceable condition.

PS these are often 'Lady size' keyboards. The 16# in your dealer example I believe refers to the size in inches overall the white keys. Full size would be c19.25 inches.

That was a great post Ed I don't think I could improve on it !!! :ch
