Hello, I 'm Dave. Had an piano accordion for many years but could only squeeze the odd tune and not very well at that. Moved to Sutton 2 years ago and a few months later found a brilliant teacher right here! Been learning properly for about 18 months now and while I have a long way to go I am finding things are becoming a lot clearer. Sutton seems to be the accordion capital of North Yorkshire, with the school of music, a prize winning accordion orchestra and a top player resident in my local pub :-) What could be better? I also play anglo concertina a little plus a bit of guitar, harmonica and tin whistle. I like mainly folk style but nothing too heavy. Probably be posting all sorts of silly questions but I am sure you are used to that.

Cheers

Dave

Welcome to this group. Lots of useful information to be found here. People are very willing to answer your question! I'm glad you're finding a lot of accordion players and a good teacher in your area. I live in the country in Maryland, USA - I don't have that luxury.

Welcome and enjoy!

Do not worry Dave ; within the forum no one claiming to be the oracle . Welcome among us . :ch

Hi Dave

You obviously found Harry Hinchcliffe in Crosshills. He taught me for 10 years and I am a member of Harry's band. If we haven't already met, no doubt it won't be long before you join us. Enjoy the forum.

I came along to the orchestral rehearsals during the Summer when things were quiet, Pete. Were you there then?

Spoke to Harry tonight, Pete. He said we have met. Do you ever go in the Kings?

Obviously we have met last summer Dave, no doubt you will make yourself known next time you come along. I have been to the Kings many times, but I usually only go if I'm invited to play. Do you intend joining Harry's merry band at some stage in the future :?:

Warm welcome to the forum... sound at home already!
