A big hello to everyone. I've been lurking for a couple of weeks learning a lot from the various threads. Time to come out and say hi.

I'm a CBA C system beginner currently putting myself through the grueling but essential early process of becoming comfortable with the instrument and establishing muscle memory. I've been playing diatonic one and two-row melodeons for many years. I also play Hayden duet concertina.

I currently have a Hohner Nova II 48 and am already pining for a 60, but first things first.

If there are any other CBA players in the area I'd love to get together.

Cheers,

Mark

Hi Mark,
Welcome on board and a particularly warm welcome to one joining the CBA world. (B or C system?)
Over here in England so really don't qualify for your area! (Same planet, same hemisphere... :D ) Hope you'll find some other CBA-ers not too far away. One of the great things about CBA seems to be that when it comes to right hand fingering there isn't the time honoured "right way" that is a part of piano keyboard technique. No one will tell you the right way, what works well is OK!

Hayden player too - so you're used to isomorphic keyboards!
Hope you'll find plenty to enjoy here and things to say too.

What style of music do you play? I'm guessing from your choice of instruments that it's not jazz or serious classical.....

Hi Tom,
Thanks for the warm welcome. As it happens I originally hail from England (I've been in the US for 30 years) and will be paying a visit in March. I'm looking forward to visiting some sheet music shops in London.

Currently, on my CBA C system, I'm still slogging through the method books but on my Hayden and diatonics I enjoy Morris, Irish, Klezmer. I'm really looking forward to playing French musette and some classical on the CBA and already am loving easily being able to play in different keys using the same fingering, much like the Hayden duet.

I guess having made it through the experience of managing to get some recognizable tunes out of the Hayden I'm not finding it such a loss not being able to find much in the way of CBA learning materials. I like that there is no time-honored "right way".

Cheers,

Mark
