Just saying hello to everyone and introducing myself.

I took up the piano accordion just before I retired, but have now changed over to learning the Chromatic Button Accordion. Somehow the layout just makes more sense to me - maybe its because I learned to touch-type years ago :-)

I am still very much a beginner but get great pleasure out of playing.

It's great to see a UK based forum - as well as to to be able to communicate across the world.

A big thank you to everyone involved in setting this up.

Kind regards

Johnathan

Hi Jonathan
I joined about 5 minutes after you!!
If you compare our profiles I think we are much the same. I hope we both get some pleasure and information out of this website.

Cheers for now

I had one of those Weltmeister 72 bassers MJH, it took a VERY good deal on a used Pigini to prise it from my grip - there`s no better value out there in CBA land in my opinion.

That is reassuring to hear Adam-T, as I found out only after I got it that there are more options in the same price and weight range, and been kinda kicking myself for not researching properly. But it's been great so far, and if the time ever comes, it has good resale value :)

I checked around when I got mine (I had the 2 voice one as I don`t need the L reed) and it`s better than the Hohner Bravo let alone any of the Chinese rubbish , as I said, I`d still have it now if the Pigini version of the same thing hadn`t wandered into my path at an unmissable deal . I love the way CBAs pack 34 notes and 72 basses into a smaller package than a 48 bass 26 note 2 voice PA :)

You are all making me fancy one of these CBAs even more.
Stop I say....

Adam-T, I have to say, I'd go with Pigini any day :) I actually have the 2 voice Welty too, couldn't find a picture with the proper colour. The contenders are a 72 bass Moreschi and an 80 bass 4 row Delicia. Wouldn't touch the Chinese boxes with a big stick either! Nor a new Hohner. The Delicia especially seems like a sweet deal with 46 notes. They both lack bass couplers so that's a bit meh. Now, why can't the scientists make these boxes smaller?! :x

They could Adam, but they would have to genetically modify your fingers

I have to say that I`d take the Weltmeister over the Delicia MJH, I don`t know about moreschi but sounds expensive .. from my research the only upgrade path for the Welty you have is the Pigini (IMO the best 2 or 3 voice small 72 bass box out there, I don`t like the sound of the cooperfisas , in making them smaller still, they`ve lost the sound) . My Pig is thankfully a Tremelo tuned one (like the welty or a Hohner) not dry or swing like they usually are, I thought i`d have to pay to get it tuned tremelo

Adam, a question if you may, did you ever find you couldn't play something because the Welty lacked notes? I'd have preferred more of a swing tuning, but with bass being loud as it is, I guess it's only proper. Yeah the Delicia would've been a bit of a tough sell, but I also thought Moreschi were supposed to be expensive, apparently you can get a new 72 bass Moreschi consideraply cheaper than a Welty. Eg. Italian ebay, "moreschi 72 bassi". Or 60, they're identical otherwise. Oh I see they're 4 row too. What is the exact model of your Pigini by the way?

Good to know. That's certainly something to consider, thank you Adam.
