The UK newspaper the Guardian has a nice story today about a Welshman in Ohio. The main thrust of the story and indeed its headline focuses on him learning the Welsh language at age 71. But it also covers him impulsively deciding to learn the button accordion at age 65. And the main picture for the newspaper article shows him proudly wearing his box :)

Yes, a nice article.
Mind you, CBA-ers are up in arms about the gross misrepresentation.....

I was aware the Welsh took great pride in their native language and singing tradition, but a quick look on YouTube revealed very interesting videos on the folk music of Wales too and the instruments like the harp, pibgorn and crwth. Though the wooden accordion is a fairly modern invention, I am sure it would mix well with the sounds and styles of these older instruments. It would be great to hear more Welsh folk accordion. Might need to visit some time!

$6,600 bucks... you could have started with something a bit cheaper.

Well think about it from the perspective of some newspaper lay-person with zero exposure to accordions and looking at a real life CBA possibly for the first time in their life... what do they know except how "fiendishly complex" it looks... lol

Great article!
