I ordered some replacement grill cloth which arrived today. The old cloth on my Hohner Vox 4P (it's based on an Atlantic IVN De Lux) was completely opaque. As you can see in the picture, the replacement is quite transparent. Even doubling it over doesn't make much difference, so it's no use to me.
Where can I get something similar to the original, opaque stuff or what could I use as a good replacement? Ideally it needs to be white / silver, or failing that I could go for black.

Try it on the grille, it may look different and not as transparent looking. The colour and style looks about right.

In the end I went for some stainless steel mesh cloth. I think it looks quite good.

looks very nice

i like that metal cloth or fine screen is pliable enough to shape, but
substantial anough to hold that shape until fastening

and it does not restrict or inhibit air flow like some cloth screening can

when i applied the brass screen to the rebuild i was doing on that Dallape,
i just applied some Silicon Gasket material and squished it through the
mesh in enough critical hold points to keep it from lifting
