Found this one really difficult...played far to rigidly..but at least i resisted the temptation to colour the melody with more chordal tones than necessary..
Ill leave in your ears and hope theyre not offended...

Not half bad. The notes are there already. The music is still a bit lacking but that is normal when you find the piece still difficult. Once you master the notes you may start really enjoying this. The music of Erik Satie is an acquired taste. My wife can play it very nicely on the piano, yet she does not like it. Apparently playing it well and really bringing out the music does not really require that you like the style of music...
I don't know whether this will ever sound as nicely on the accordion as it does on the piano. I haven't tried, and I really like how this sounds on the piano.

I love satie. Agreed it lacks a bit of life but once youve mastered the song it will come :) im currently practicing the gymnopedie 1. I love the song. The melody is easy enough but im figuring out the chords still.

Thank you both for your analysis.. Appreciated..
Paul that's a great description.. The notes are there but the music isn't.. Sadly that analogy can probably be applied to a lot of my playing
Wout you hit the nail on the head when you say lacking a bit of life.. Funny thing when I hit that record button is I become tense and very conscious to stop breathing as my recorder takes great joy in picking up my snuffling breath... Probably need a bit more life inside myself too...
As to Satie I love some of his compositions and wish I could play as freely as he intended... Apparently he wrote so loosely that he omitted bar lines..also it's said he teachers found him quite useless and infuriating and he was lobbed out of the conservatory twice... I can relate to him..
Best wishes.. Terry
