Well, my attempts to buy a used FRX4b came to nothing.
There are none for sale in the UK, so I turned to Leboncoin in France where there were 2 .
The first one I paid for using Leboncoin's guaranteed payment service wherebye they don't release the money until the goods are received to your satisfaction. No response from the seller and my money was returned to me.
The second was similar in that I paid up front again and after 10 days the seller replied saying he had been away working and that he preferred a bank transfer to his account, after all safety checks had been made to prove his credentials.
I agreed to this and asked for his bank details, then nothing. Once again my money was returned by Leboncoin.
I reluctantly settled for a FRX3b and after a couple of fruitless enquiries, eventually found one in Normandy.
Booked my ferry crossing, the got an e-mail saying he had a gig (he is a semi pro player) in Paris that weekend and wouldn't be back until the Monday morning, so I spent the weekend in a little town in Northern France twiddling my thumbs and reading up on the manual which I had printed off .
All went well with the sale. He was a very friendly chap and an accomplished player, demonstrating the Roland for about 20 minutes to my complete satisfaction.
Anyway, to cut a long ramble short, after returning home and trying to get to grips with it, I find that I can't access the Factory Sets. I am following the instructions ( I think) to the letter.
I press the Set key and the lights flash. I then press the set number I want. In my case, I'm trying to get Scottish so I press the 9 register twice. The lights change to 92 but keep flashing and then return to the original setting.
I have tried this on every Factory Set and get the same result. It's as if the Factory Sets aren't there.
When I got the accordion I found it was configured as a 3 x 3 base and I did a factory reset thinking that would return it to "normal". That didn't work so I then read the appropriate section and configured it back to 2 x 4 base.
I'm just hoping that I'm doing something wrong here and that I haven't bought a faulty box.
Everything else seems to work just fine except that some of the Orchestra sounds , especially the "trumpet" are a bit of a joke.
