Looking at many sites for bellows straps (mine are worn out) I see nothing for my 140 bass La Melodiosa. Also looking for the bass strap that I understand has the wrong threads or screw as they are made in China! Are any made in the USA or Italy where the accordion was made? I have noticed that the straps are riveted to the bracket for the shoulder straps. Does this mean I will have to drill out the old strap or replace the entire bracket???

120 bass straps will suit a 140 bass instrument. Pretty well all attach by loop & buckle or similar... so youll need to decide if/how that attaches to your bracket or if youll need to replace it, or drill or whatever suits you.
At a push you could fix your screw to a replacement bass strap to ensure itll fit, but most good accordion parts suppliers will have Italian threaded bass straps. if you were in the UK Id say look here http://www.cgmmusical.co.uk/CGM_Musical_Services/Bass_Straps.htmlstock
Or here: http://www.accordions.co.uk/Accessories.htm but the US guys will probably be able to point you to a local US supplier, some of whom are members here.

Pictures of the accordion & bracket may help if you want further suggestions; Is it a vintage model?

Edit: Speeling corrrrectons...lol!

Yes this accordion was bought in 1958 for my 16th birthday and it was recently overhauled a few years ago in Sacramento California and is still playing like new. Nothing was seriously wrong with it like reeds or anything. Several bellows corners were replaced and did need tuning and now that the leaks are stopped it plays like it was new! He did replace the shoulder straps with 4 wide leather straps which really helped from the original as this is a heavy accordion. Now the bellows straps are just deteriorating from age so looking around I dont see the type that would fit. And as you said, Ill probably have to do some drilling or replacing the brackets if I can find the right ones. Thanks so much for your info. Larry

Hi Larry & welcome (sorry it's late, I overlooked it was your first post). If you can post up a pic we'd love to see it.

I will work on that. Wife does the picture taking around here and then we have to learn how to send it through to the forum. ;)
