Cassotto or Not(to)?

What a wonderful find, this quad tone chamber!
With this design all reeds for each note are in a tone chamber in the same order. This eliminates the timbre/sound differences you get with a regular double cassotto where notes on the front block in cassotto do not sound the same as notes on the rear block. This difference is often small, but when you have three reed blocks in cassotto as with large button accordions you do clearly hear the difference between the first block and the third block.
I wonder why this design did not catch on. It looks like a great original design.

The tone of the Manfrini Bosca Ceoil diatonic box is so beautiful it takes my breath - my favourite of all, but right at the beginning I reluctantly set aside the notion of diatonic because it is not so suited to Scottish music with all the assorted keys.

Eh! What did Sir Jimmy Shand play! .Also Will Starr and the current Senior Scottish accordion champion (all systems) Brandon McPhee and a great many others.

The 3 row box needs only 5 scales worth of learning to play in 12 keys - 7 come entirely free of charge!

george ;)

Ah, fair enough, what I should have said is that I set aside the notion of the two-row B-C Diatonic.

Now I've got to change from piano accordion and learn the three-row box? I was confused before; now I am REALLY confused!

Have a look at the button box forum . It has BCC# keyboard charts scale charts and notes for beginners etc
