I had (note the past tense) a sturdy music stand, tripod legs, solid metal build apart from a couple of hard plastic parts that connected the umbrella like supports to the feet. It was great. It could hold a 1200 song Fake-Book and had little arms to hold the pages in place once you'd flipped to the bit you want.

My large, 12 year old Border Collie got into 'puppy mode' this morning, chasing one of his toys around the sitting room. He collided with the Stand, got entangled with it, panicked and ran across the room dragging it behind him.

I used to have a nice sturdy, metal music stand... I now have a nice sturdy pole that once had three legs to hold it in a sturdy position which now flop about without their relevant sturdy attachments.

Some work with Meccano or similar metal fixings is in my future, but I fear it will never return to its former dusky black glory...

I am a big fan of Hamilton stands. THIS is the one that I have had since the early 70s. Its been all across Canada and the US with me back in the day and never failed me. I could drop it off a cliff and it would be just fine. Its heavy and sturdy and doesnt have folding legs, making the weakest link in most other stands pretty much its strongest and most indestructible aspect. Its heavy, but for the times you want a large solid stand, there are not many others out there that are better.

Dogged by an unfortunate collie-sion, one might say :-)
