I'm new to midi and have just purchased a 2nd hand accordion approx 5 yrs old with midi plus an expander. The cable however, has been so used it has stopped working and some of the small midi leads have become disconnected. The accordion has an 8 pin what looks like a Din male output into which is plugged an 8 pin female cable with a screw lacking mechanism but at the other end it only has 5 pins plus a central pin male adapter which goes into the power adapter of the expander. I need a new cable. A standard 5 pin midi won't work, so II need an 8 pin female cable to a six pin male. Where do I get these? I hope this makes sense because I can't see any of these cables on the net. Would this be a DIN cable to midi?

Thanks Pentaprism. Brilliant. All the bits are intact, so soldering is a possibility. Wiring diagram?

I might have the wiring diagram somewhere.... Give me a day or two....

Found this listing on FleaBay:

eBay listing

Edited to add: No, I dont have the wiring diagram. My cable is different (5-pin to 5-pin). Sorry.

I have a cable like this on my Excelsior Midivox III and get the cables from The Accordion Shop http://www.theaccordionshop.co.uk (fairly pricey).

Be warned if you are going to mend it yourself though, they are very fiddly and you require a very small soldering iron and a lot of patience. :hb
