I’m looking at the Brandoni 148, and have carefully reviewed the Brandoni website. The reed type is indicated as “infinity”, which I assume are the Voci armoniche hand made/a mano reeds. But, under the options, it lists “hand made type” as a “reed variant”. I’m kind of surprised that Brandoni would offer a reed downgrade in their premium instruments.

Here is a link the the web page:

Does anybody have experience with this brand that can advise me on how to determine which type of reeds are in the instrument that I am interested in?

I would assume that "infinity" refers to lesser reeds when "hand made" is an option. (The other models like the "Classic" have no options for reeds so I assume they all come with hand made reeds already.)
Always confusing when accordion makers invent names not used by reed makers... I don't believe Brandoni makes these reeds, so they must be an alias for something else...

Hi @Wheezer,

The Infinity reeds used in the Brandoni Infinity were the best available... a very special handmade reed.
I have played a few of the Brandoni Infinity models and consider them to be a bastion of traditional craftsmanship and quality, maybe even a future classic...

It might be worthwhile emailing Brandoni to ask for more details.
