Very sadly Bernard Loffet passed away last week after suffering a catastrophic Cerebral Hemorage. He was just 52.

As you can see from the attached clip he was a superb musician, singer and dancer and very well regarded in the Breton dance world.

He also built and sold his own range of Diatonic Accordions.

So, RIP Bernard and Carpe Diem for the rest of us!

How sad!
A man who re-invigorated the world of the diatonic in particular and the accordion (and its traditions) in general.
He will be greatly missed.

That's really sad and I had no idea he was so young.
I've always been impressed by his instruments when I've come across them.
Lots of wonderful diatonics, but he also made a unique little CBA, melodeon sized, with just bass notes and, I think, open fifth "chords" on the left hand.

RiP Bernard, your instruments will carry on your memory for very many years.

I didn't know he made a CBA, unique or otherwise. It sounds intriguing. We had the pleasure to see and dance to Bernard Loffet and Yves Le Blanc's music last year near Sables d'Olonne in the Vendee, it was a cracking evening.

I believe it was his funeral today, I'm sure there would have been a bare foot bal afterwards.

That's terrible news, and way too young for Bernard.

I have one of his melodeons, beautifully made and a pleasure to play.

I hope no one will think it inappropriate if I post a link to Bernards little CBA.
