Hiya,
I'm revalving a 1950s Scandalli LMMH and I've noticed the bass soprano reed block (F5-E6) has leather valves on all the reeds.
The treble in contrast has what I expected: no valves on C6 and above.
The treble and bass C6 reed plates are both about 15mm x 31mm.
But the bass soprano reed plates are all that size while the treble reed plates vary according to pitch.
So does the "no valves above about C6" rule apply to bass soprano, or is there a reason to put valves on them ?
