In the old CBA which I now have the bass buttons move around in their buttonholes rather excessively, it seems to me.
I imagine that the insertion of thin grommets would 'fill' the holes a bit; is this a practical approach, or can someone advise something more appropriate.

Thank you Paul.
Question: are they glued into position or are they a 'press-fit'?
If glued, what kind is preferable?
I never needed to fit them, but they most certainly need to be fitted when the bass buttons have been removed (so partial disassembly of the bass mechanism) and I guess you glue them in with a little bit of white (pva) glue. JimD may have other glue recommendations. Essentially you use the same glue you would use to glue the felt of pallets to the wooden part of the pallet, or to glue the strip of felt that goes under the keys to the wooden base.

You might want to replace PVA with generic textile glue, because it will stay more elastic. It will also bond felt to wood.

In case of PVA:
Really just give it a little drop, and be cautious not to soak the felt with PVA, because it will harden the felt, cancelling its function.

It will be a very strong bond.
