Even if the piano accordion may be easier for beginners, the chromatic accordion can be easier to play in the long run. This is because the chromatic accordion has a layout that allows for the performance of complex melodies and chords that may be difficult or even impossible on a piano accordion. Once you get past the initial difficulty of getting comfortable with the layout of the right-hand button board, everything becomes much easier because the layout of a CBA is modular. This means that, unlike the keyboard, you are not forced to change your fingering when changing the key of a melody or chord; you just need to move your hand to the right position and repeat the same fingering. Plus, the chromatic accordion allows for a greater range of notes, which can make it more versatile and expressive in the hands of a skilled player.
