Hello,

and excuse me for my poor english. :-D

My name is Gianfranco and I write from Italy. I am 59 yo and I begun to study accordion (stradella, "bassi standard") when I was 25, but after few years I stopped studies and I sold my instrument, a very cheap Paolo Soprani with a really bad sound.

In 2018 I returned to my old love. I purchased from a friend a Navini "organtone" that I still have, then in Castelfidardo a personalized Victoria A470V (stradella) but I am fond of classical music so I changed it with a Bugari 289-ars-c4 with "minor thirds" free basses ("terze minori").

I study with a conservatory teacher but I don't have much time so my progress is very slow. I hope I'll have more time in the future and, who knows, be able to follow conservatory studies. :)

That's all. ;-)

Hello again! :-D

Hi Gianfranco and welcome to the forum. It's a great place to be, for information, advice and to listen to what others are playing or enjoying.

Good luck with your studies too.

Cheers

David

Welcome Gianfranco! You made an excellent choice of instrument to get serious with the accordion. Around here it seems that this is the most popular convertor (piano) accordion. I do a bit of repair for friends from different orchestras and ensembles, and certainly among them the 289/ARS/C4 is top dog! And it's also a joy to work on.

Hallo and thanks again! :-D

I think you ar right, Paul: Victoria and Bugari (and Pigini, too, expecially for chromatic instruments) are very good products. My Victoria was really complete, with 12ma and a lot of registers in left and right hand, Cagnoni reeds and a very nice voice, but without free basses and it was too big and heavy for me. I asked Victoria to modify the instrument for free basses but there were too much difficulties so I selled the instrument (it is in Austria now, as I know) and took my new Bugari. I am very happy, it is smaller and light and it sounds very good. I prefer it to Victoria one. In Castelfidardo I had the impression of high professionality but unfortunately (for COVID ) I could not visit all the factory. I have to learn the new left keyboard and it is not so easy but I am making some progress, this winter I hope I have time to study enough with my teacher.

Thank you again. :)

Benvenuto Gianfranco! Best of luck learning the free bass, you can do it!
