The Piano Accordion in Brazil - Gustavo Almeida and More

He is definitely the best, there is no question. But when we need a little relief from such amazing technique, there are always these happy Portuguese players:

Never, he is (was) great! Brazilian accordion is a wonderful rabbit hole we've been down so often, all good! Now here's Dorgival Dantes to start again.....

That's just great. I'd take Brazilian groovy baselines over flashy extravagance most days. And the two go together often enough! Recently introduced to a forth or fifth Brazilian 馃獥 genre. It's a big country with so many overlapping cultures. Makes me dizzy.

Brazil has at least four 馃獥 styles I guess, I just heard of choro, which is I guess an ancestor of samba and such. I don't pretend to understand. But here's a modern group that has added accordion to the older instruments:

The other Brazilian folk genres featuring 馃獥s that I know of are:
Forr贸 from the Northeast: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Forr贸
Sertanejo country music from maybe the South East? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sertanejo_music
and Gaucho music chamam茅 from the South on the border with Argentina and Uruguay.

That's a lot of groovy accordion

Wow, great Choro, thanks Bruce! Almost as many styles as terms for the accordion. Everyone loves Ga煤cha: Is that a diatonic with Stradella bass? It's hard to tell....
