I've an old Hohner 3 row 37 button diatonic accordion, a Gaelic IVS; the action of the treble buttons is too high for my taste and I'm curious about what it would cost to have lower ones installed, or to have the existing ones lowered. I'm in the States.

The depth of the action does not depend on the buttons but on how the "arms" are bent during construction. The arms can be bent a bit (under the grille) to reduce the travel. Nothing needs replacing to achieve this. You "only" need to find a skilled repairer with the right tools (the "torciferri").

Is it expensive to have that done?

Pacific NW. There's a very good one in the Seattle area but I thought I ask around here first.
